This was the place to go back in the day. Ah, the good old days: get a chop-chop on the weekend before going golfing or try to get there and back in a 39-minute school lunch period. Every time I've been back recently I wonder why I used to spend so much money there. It's nothing special, just some chicken, vegetables, and rice thrown in a bowl. It must be that they give you huge portions. Or maybe it's the curry mustard sauce--a bunch of that thrown on your food and you're guaranteed to love it. On second thought, it's definitely the curry mustard.

My sister and I talk about food all the time and she asked me "whats the one thing you can eat everyday and not get sick from"? My answer Chicken Kitchen, her answer...Chicken Kitchen. I dont know what magic ingredients they use in the marinade but this chicken can hold its own against Pollo Tropical and the generic Chicken Grills. Same goes for the mustard curry. In a blind taste test I can confidently tell you which sample is from Chicken Kitchen. For fresh food, great prices, fast delivery, and customized chop chops go there. Part of the fun is listening to other customized orders - heard of the slice slice where the customer wants the chicken sliced rather than chopped and the micro chop where they want the chicken in a super fine chop. I'm interested in trying both variations.

Chicken Kitchen has been there for so long. It's a very reliable source of your chop chop needs. For those who are not savvy, chop chop is a delicious combination of rice, chicken, and sometimes other things depending on what type you get. A mexican chop chop for instance would have black beans, guac, and cheese. They have very good white chicken. Out of all the fast chicken possibilities, chicken kitchen is one of the best. I personally prefer the cuban chop chop. The great part is getting to select the sauces you want to top your beautiful chop chop. My personal favorite is yellow curry.

I love Chicken Kitchen! And this location is my favorite in South Florida. They have brown rice and they'll give you extra mustard curry sauce to go free of charge. Gotta love that. The Chicken Kitchen on Miracle Mile charges extra so I go here every time. LOVE it!

I loooooooooove this place! I know, I know... I've said that a lot but seriously... I think I've even dreamt of eating here again. Everytime I'm in Miami I HAVE TO eat here (or Chicken Grill which is basically the same thing). A bed of rice with chopped up grilled chicken on top and their special sauce... YUMMY!!! The portions are also PERFECT... okay,okay... I admit- the portions are more than I should be eating but I don't care... it's Chicken Kitchen/Grill.

No joke, this place keeps me alive and reasonably well-fed. Simple premise: healthy, fast, tasty food that's easy and relatively guilt-free to take home (and did I mention inexpensive?). I prefer going here to any other fast-food places, including Pollo Tropical which may seem similar. My college friends introduced me to this place. This is Chicken Kitchen's main dish, the chop-chop: Chopped white-meat chicken served over a bed of rice with various toppings (lettuce, cheese, tomato, black beans, etc) and sauces (curry mustard, sweet-sour, salsa, cranberry, etc) on the side. They grill the meat on an open grill and everything is customized for you. Side dishes are offered like salads, veggies, etc. but one regular chop-chop will fill you up.

I really don't want to stop liking this place. However, I had a pretty bad experience there today. The service was awful. The food mediocre. I asked for a bit more tomatoes on my chop chop and was charged $0.50 for them! Overall, I am very disappointed.

The chicken is consistent, the mustartd curry a favorite and yes, it's quick and easy, but not for the price. They have been increasing the prices for months now, so much that it's ridiculous. Perhaps they think the people of south Miami enjoy paying 5 star restaurant prices for takeout grilled chicken but not this South Florida family. I would rather go to Epicure, which is moving to the Gables, or whole Foods and save some money.

I've been meaning to go here for a looong time--friends kept recommending it, but I was worried that it might not be healthy or that it may just be pricey (hey, what *isn't* in Miami?), but I couldn't have been more surprised. I ordered a small Deluxe Chop Chop--the chicken looked SO fresh, and the "small" ended up being a huuuuge serving. I ate probably half and stored the rest, and they add a little pita bun or something to the top! I also ordered a "small" order of plaintains because I have been craving them like crazy, and the nice employee stuffed my container TO THE BRIM of delicious plaintains. Everything tasted so fresh and yummy, I didn't even feel the need to add the sauce they gave me, but I dipped the pita bread in it--sooo good!! The prices were awesome, everything overflowing ("small" is a total misnomer!) from the chop chop to the plaintains, and it all probably cost me $8 total. For basically two amazing meals. This is my new favorite place!! Super fast, veryyyy delicious, fresh, and healthy, and excellent prices/service!!

I love chicken chop chop, and Chicken Kitchen is the place that turned chop chop into a commercial success. I get the Deluxe CHOP-CHOP® (freshly grilled chopped breast with lettuce & tomatoes served over yellow rice) and throw in a bunch of the delicious Mustard'n Curry™ for a flavorful, quick feast. Seriously, I wish they would expand the chain outside of Florida, Colorado, and Texas because I really think it would do well in Madison.

For lunch break, nothing beats fast, cheap, and delicious. This Chicken Kitchen is all of the above. The food is not going to blow your mind or anything as it's essentially just chicken and rice with different add-ons, but it's consistently good. Not being much of a fast foodie we came here based on our daughter's suggestion. Right up the street from her and I had ate at this chain years ago but forgot about how good they are. It was this past Saturday evening at 9:20pm and they stay open until 10pm. As soon as we walked in like four staff members greeted us, they were super friendly. Daughter ordered a chop chop and not only did she really enjoy it but I tasted it and wow was it good. Hubs and I ordered an incredible special that they had for the night. A whole chicken white meat only with two large sides for $8.99. Wow what a deal. My husband asked for a leg because I am a leg girl and they said sure no problem. We get our food and I can not even tell you how much chicken was in there because we had it for lunch yesterday there was so much left over. The mashed potatoes were OK and the slaw was good. The chicken is very tasty especially the skin, great seasoning and very moist. My daughter's chop bowl was so fresh and good. I especially liked the rice as I am picky with rice. What a great place with such good food, good service, and one heck of a great deal. I will so be back again for another fabulous meal.

Chicken Kitchen is already delish, but this is the BEST location!! If I lived closer, they would feed me daily. Always quick service, clean, the guys on the grill are super friendly, and even the customers at this store are more pleasant than others. Fresh, cheap, quick, and yummy!!!

This is the location where Chicken Kitchen dreams were born. Despite that fact that this once local lunch spot is now a mass franchised operation, the chop chop is no different tasting today than it was 15 years ago. I remember the days when I'd walk in, order my chop chop (grilled chicken over yellow rice, lathered in mustard curry sauce) and have it served in an unbranded Styrofoam box. While those days are gone, this local fast food operation is consistently satisfying and I'll continue returning!

Chicken, while salty, is delicious. The food is always fresh, cooked and served right in front of you. This is an excellent place to stop if you want a healthy bite to eat in a hurry. The staff is usually friendly although they could improve in this department. Not the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant but great for those trying to eat somewhat healthy and on the go.

One of the best fast food choices There was a time when I used to eat here 5 times a week so i can say that the quality of their food has stay consistent throughout the years. This Is one of the best fast food choices if you want to stay healthy. You could order their traditional chop chop which is not a terrible unhealthy choice or you could make it even healthier by ordering a chicken Caesar salad which they make delicious and always fresh. I can only say that I don't like chicken and I like theirs so it must be good:)

The Chicken Kitchen franchise, this location, the owner, and the staff of this establishment had gone through so much over the years that to arrive here and find it improved is almost a shock. I won't tell the whoooole story, but I will review this location. First of all, this place is brighter. They have changed the decor, apparently long time ago, and the menu is also slightly different. Also, they've added bilingual people. But all of this is marginal to the more important subject: the food. I ordered a few things since it was another family day on my agenda, and for some reason I had been craving a chop-chop. I used to eat those at a rate of once a week at another location. Always once a week though, that way I give other food places an equal opportunity to wow me. So here I am, the first in line to order a chop-chop. I did find the service a little bit impersonal, but as long as I am getting my chop-chop and you are charging me right, we got no beef (no pun intended). We also got a quesadilla, a teriyaki chop-chop, and a wrapito. Not only were all good, but all were great. Even the sauces were the right thickness. On the chop-chops the rice was al dente, the chicken was soft and the vegetables were fresh. Just good all around, and I was certainly impressed. To calm my sweet tooth, I got a sweet potato with marshmallows, and even though it was good, it tasted like if it was mass made, or out of a can. This was a crucial point, because if it wasn't for that, I would have just walked out of there in a trance, and rated this location 5 stars. But I was awaken and yes, sometimes, no matter how great they are, franchises get 4 stars.

This is one of the reasons I come back to Miami. It's for CHICKEN KITCHEN! I love their mexican chop-chop with the curry sauce, it tastes so good. The service can vary depending on who you get. Not to be mean (oh hell it's going to still sound it) they have a couple of employees who aren't the brightest in the bunch. I get my mexican chop-chop with no beans and no tomatoes. I'll stand there any tell them it very clearly, and they'll still dump it in, and then realize what they did and start over again. Other than the varying service, the food is excellent.

I love chop-chop. When hungry and looking for a cheap, healthy meal that is quickly prepared, Chicken Kitchen is our choice. Low-Carb chop is so good. A bed of shredded lettuce is topped with chopped tomato, and the all-famous chopped chicken. Add a drizzle of the not-so-healthy curry mustard to dress your greens, but also to enhance incredible flavor from the marinated grilled chicken. Yum! Sometimes the place is busy, so carry out is your best friend. This works for us well as we prefer to eat at home.

It's fast, cheap, and tasty. Also if you like healthy then this is a good place to go. I usually come here for lunch once in a while and always get the Cuban chop. The food will not blow you away , but it will fill you up for a couple of dollars.

I'm torn about how to accurately review this place. When I come to the Miami area I try to stop by the one on S.Dixie but this afternoon I can to this one. The chop was good as always but the guy making food didn't say one word to either myself out my friend while her made or food. Complete silence, a crappy pissed off look on his face. Not the guy you should have handling all of your customers. The cashier was nice but as I walked out a roach the size of a small mouse walked across the dining floor area. Kinda the icing on the cake. I'm not saying I won't ever come back to Chicken Kitchen but I will never come to this location.

  • Sergio F.

They have fancified their decor - brighter colors, faux brick paneling - looks nice and comparable with other South Miami eateries. But their "RyanAir-ization" of the lunch experience does not allow me to rate them very highly. I stopped by for a quick "healthy" and supposedly budget conscious work lunch today. After all, I wouldnt want to ruin my renewed working out with a very rich meal. Granted, Chicken Kitchen is relatively tasty health food which can be supplemented with some sauces. Their sweet and sour sauce (yeah I know I talked about healthy. At least I didn't use the whole package) is to die for and still included in the price of your meal. Their chicken was lean without being tasteless, but all their fine print for a healthier meal (50 cents extra for brown rice??) almost doubles the price of a meal! Come on guys, we heard the President and First Lady..encourage healthy eating!

  • John Y. C.

Well, I do eat here 4 times a week, so yes, I'm a fan. I'm sure plenty enough has been said about this wonderful establishment. If it's your 1st time, get an original chop with the mustard curry sauce. That's what happened with me, and I've been hooked since 1995.

    (4)
  • Jason A.

They add crack to the mustard curry sauce right? They must. Better than the other chicken place (you know, the one that is right up US-1 by the Radio Shack across from UM) since they still let you take unlimited curry sauce and salsa. If you are in Miami for a night, skip out on the high priced South Beach restaurants. $6 and you're all set here. Also, if you're a UM student, it's a 10% discount. They don't advertise it, so you have to ask.

Never had anything like this but I'm glad I did. The first time I went there I tried their world famous mexican chop-chop which was rice, black beans chicken, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and sour cream. The second time I tried the mexican pita pocket which had chicken, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and tomatoes all tucked inside a pita bread. I love chicken kitchen. I love relying on yelp guide me to great tasting foods.

Love their chop chop...the grilled chicken is so good, and combined with the mustard curry sauce and rice it is amazing. Too many carbs? Ask for tomatoes and lettuce instead. It is still delicious. We stopped in for chop chop at least once a week (if not twice or three times) in college, and Chicken Kitchen was definitely one of the places I missed after moving. So excited to see there are franchises now. Hopefully they make it to the Northeast soon!

I ate here about 2-3 times a week when I went to school down here. It is a college kid's dream. Cheap, filling, and tasty. The original chop chop is the way to go, with 4 curry mustards and 2 pitas. Fill those pitas up, drown them in curry mustard, and enjoy. And then when you are done, mail me two of them with a gallon of curry mustard.

I just placed an order for delivery and the man who picked up the phone was rude and unhelpful and told me I had to wait at least an hour for the food since I live far away... I ordered from the Chicken Kitchen in Sunset and I live less than 10 minutes driving distance from Sunset Place. Also, I ordered the TERIYAKI chicken and he asked me what sauce I wanted with my chop chop... In general, very incompetent and a pain to deal with.

This place has good food. However, the service is horrible. I don't know what happened as I have been coming here for over 15 years. Now they have a crew that are primarily older Spanish speakers and they are rude. They never say hi, or thank you, or how can I help u. They just stare at you. Then the cashier for the last 3 times has run me up without asking anything else or a drink or anything. She doesn't even look up and then they have conversations with each other the whole time. Today it was about who was going to eat what flan. It's insane and makes me wonder what happened to the management. I'm not going back as there a many more places in south Miami where I imagine my business will be appreciated more.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! These folks have apparently taken a hit with the economy and are now sharing it with their loyal customers. I have always been a BIG fan of Chicken Kitchen, in particular this location. I feel that their food is sensible and fresh. However, they have recently changed their prices (which are now higher) and reduced the portion sizes at the same time! The ORIGINAL CHOP CHOP now only contains 3 oz of chicken. We are talking less than 1/2 a cup! The LARGE portions of the LOW CARB CHOP CHOP contains only 4 oz of chicken. While the taste is still good and the food is not greasy fast-food, its no longer a value and/or worth the new prices.... Buyer beware!

i visit this establishment on a weekly basis usually on SW 40th St and 117th Ave with no complaints. However I took my Mom out for a meal at Chicken Kitchen on the Crossing SW 112 St and 132Av. The rice seemed like it was not fresh, the platanitos were refried...the whole experience was embarrasing. I am not sure if different locations have different quality controls in order to save food for the next day, but when I am paying full price I expect fresh food. My 2 cents.

I eat here 2 to 3 times a week!! They know my order as soon as i walk in the door. Excellent food at a great price. I would also like to say they have a very friendly efficient staff!

Well, I do eat here 4 times a week, so yes, I'm a fan. I'm sure plenty enough has been said about this wonderful establishment. If it's your 1st time, get an original chop with the mustard curry sauce. That's what happened with me, and I've been hooked since 1995.

Good place to eat inexpensively. Decor is nice. Customer Service is Good. I wish they had other sauces.

The original (at least to me). A legend if you know the U. Get the chop-chop and you'll understand.

i visit this establishment on a weekly basis usually on SW 40th St and 117th Ave with no complaints. My 2 cents.
